Ma Nyande Women's Development Organization (MNWDO) spearheads a transformative rice cultivation expansion project in Sierra Leone, focusing on empowering women farmers in rural areas like Korgbotuma in Bo District. This initiative aims to boost rice production, enhance food security, and create sustainable livelihoods by providing access to seeds, fertilizers, and gender-friendly mechanized tools.
In 2024, MNWDO achieved a 50% increase in rice cultivation through strategic interventions, including tractor access for land clearing and training on modern farming techniques. Supported by the Food Systems Resilience Program (FSRP) and UN Women, the project aligns with Sierra Leone’s Feed Salone initiative, empowering women to play a central role in national agricultural development.
